Sourdough Bread

Today in Daisy’s Diary dad and I made sourdough bread. We started by mixing the ingredients together. Then we would let it sit for 30min and fold it. After the 30min I would fold my loaf and then dad would fold his and check mine. “Dad!.” I would say “Don’t you trust my folding skills!” '“I’m just checking.” he would retorts. That always happens when we bake this bread. Normally we do 3 rounds of folding. In each round we do 4 folds. Between each round is the 30min I mentioned above. We usually start this folding process around 7:00pm so that we can leave it over night then shape and bake in the morning. Oh yeah shaping. Basically we pour out the dough, fold it on last time and then drag it across our counter. (Don’t tell dad I said this but I think I’m better at shaping than him!) Last of all we bake our loafs and they become our the wonderful bread we eat. This bake is awesome hope you enjoy.

Helpful Hints

  • When mixing the ingredients at first use some sort of long spoon or tool. Then you can move on to your hands.

  • When folding really get your hands under the dough and then stretch it.

  • Also another tip for folding and mixing is get you hands wet first. (It makes the dough a lot less sticky)
